Turnovers Burn Lady Bucs in Exhibition Opener

MARTIN, Tenn.-Host Tennessee-Martin turned 28 Christian Brothers University turnovers into 24 points as they claimed a 76-48 win in the exhibition opener for both squads Monday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bucs used a 6-0 burst early in the first quarter and led for much of the first quarter, last on a Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) triple with 4:04 remaining in the quarter to give them a 13-11 lead.
• UTM closed the first quarter on a 10-0 run, and they scored the first eight points of the second to open a 29-13 lead on a Myah Taylor three with 6:23 remaining in the half. CBU never came closer than 13 again.

KEY STATS:
Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) led CBU with 18 points and seven rebounds.
• Banks scored 13.
Madison Luckett (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) grabbed seven rebounds to go with six points.
Kenzie Jones (Park Hills, Mo./Central HS) dished out three assists to go with five points and six rebounds.
• CBU shot 35.6 percent (16-of-45) for the game to the Skyhawks' 40.6 percent (26-of-64)
• UTM was 13-of-24 (54.2 percent) from three-point range, while CBU shot just 6-of-24 (25.0 percent).
• The Skyhawks out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 36-32, including 13-7 in offensive rebounds.
• CBU committed 28 turnovers while forcing 15 from the Skyhawks.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs open the 2016-17 season on the road Friday night at 5 p.m. as they visit Arkansas-Monticello. Their home opener is set for Monday, Nov. 21, at 5 p.m. against LeMoyne-Owen.
