MEMPHIS-After squandering a 5-1 lead in the seventh inning, the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs rallied for the tying run with two out in the bottom of the seventh, eventually winning 7-6 in eight innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED:• Union (3-15, 2-7 GSC) opened the scoring with a run in the top of the third on an error and a two-out RBI single.
• CBU (6-13, 2-7) answered with two in the bottom of the inning.
Abby Ferreira (Santa Clarita, Calif./Saugus HS) and
Holly Oyhenart (Menifee, Calif./Paloma Valley HS) opened the inning with back-to-back singles. With one out, Ferreira scored when
Kylie Steagall (San Diego, Calif./Steele Canyon HS) reached on an error. After Oyhenart was out on a force play,
Gabrielle Sereika (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) singled Steagall home to put CBU ahead.

Hannah Oliver (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) blasted a leadoff homer in the bottom of the fourth to give the Lady Bucs a 3-1 lead.
• CBU added two more in the fifth inning.
Amber Johnson (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) led off with a single, and Steagall singled her home. After a
Jenna Cotter (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) walk, a passed ball moved runners to second and third, setting up Sereika to drive Steagall in and give CBU a 5-1 lead.
• Union exploded for five runs in the top of the seventh , taking advantage of three doubles and four singles to regain a 6-5 lead.
• The Lady Bucs tied it up in the bottom of the seventh. Sereika led off with a single, and pinch-runner
Amy Koury (Pearland, Texas/Pearland HS) moved to second on a groundout.
Blake Andres (Arlington, Tenn./Briarcrest HS) singled to center to score Koury, but she was tagged out trying to take second on the throw home, sending the game to extra innings.
• CBU scored the winning run with two outs in the eighth. After Oyhenart singled, Johnson reached on an error. Oyhenart was caught stealing third, but Johnson advanced to second and scored the game-winning run on a Steagall single to right.
KEY STATS:• Sereika went 3-for-3 with a walk and two RBI.
• Oyhenart was 3-for-5 with a stolen base.
• Johnson went 2-for-4 with two runs.
• Steagall was 2-for-5 with one run and three RBI.
• Oliver went 1-for-3 with a homer, a run, a walk and one RBI.
WHAT'S NEXT:The Lady Bucs return to action next weekend with a GSC series at Alabama Huntsville. After visiting Southern Arkansas for a doubleheader March 8, they return home Thursday, March 10, to host LeMoyne-Owen for a 1 p.m. twin bill.
