MEMPHIS-Visiting West Georgia pitched consecutive shutouts as they swept a doubleheader from the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday afternoon at Bland Field.
GAME 1:
WHAT HAPPENED:
The Wolves (28-19, 12-13 GSC) scored 10 runs in the second inning on their way to an 11-0 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• UWG used a hit batter, three walks, three doubles, a single and a pair of home runs to score 10 in the top of the second.
• The Wolves set the final margin with a run in the top of the fourth on a single and a double.
KEY STATS:

Amber Johnson (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) went 1-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases for the Lady Bucs (8-35, 2-24)

Jacqueline Conlan (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) was 1-for-2.

Hannah Oliver (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) and
Amy Koury (Pearland, Texas/Pearland HS) each drew a walk.
GAME 2:
WHAT HAPPENED:
West Georgia pitcher Kathryn Woody threw her first career no-hitter to lead the Wolves to a 6-0 win in the nightcap.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Wolves gave Woody all the run support she would need in the first two batters of the game, with a leadoff triple followed by a sacrifice fly.
• UWG tacked on four more in the fourth inning on three singles, a walk and a double.
• A UWG run in the seventh set the final margin as the Wolves took advantage of two singles and a sacrifice fly.
KEY STATS:
• Conlan and
Sierra Anderson (Olive Branch, Miss./Lewisburg HS) each drew a walk, and
Alexis Seward (Chino, Calif./Chino HS) reached base on an error.
• Johnson's hitting streak was snapped at 24 games, setting both a school record and a GSC season-high.
