Lady Bucs Rally Past Lady Bulldogs

JACKSON, Tenn.-After dropping the first set, the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs won the next three as they took a four-set win at Union Thursday night in their first Gulf South Conference road match of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bulldogs (3-6, 0-1 GSC) finished strong in a back-and-forth first set, scoring nine of the final 12 points to win the set 25-21.
• The second set was similarly back-and-forth, with no lead of more than two points throughout the set. CBU claimed a 25-23 win by scoring the final three points, the last on a Brinsley Cooper (Rossville, Ind./Rossville HS) block.
• CBU used a five-point run with Erica Maurer (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) serving to take command in the third set, flipping an 18-17 deficit into a 22-18 lead. They went on to win 25-20 on a Mary Kathryn Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS) kill.
• After a close start, the Lady Bucs out-scored Union 15-5 to pull away to a 25-14 win in the fourth set to clinch the victory.

KEY STATS:
• Miller paced the Lady Bucs' offense with 12 kills, hitting .409 to go with three digs, three blocks and two assists for 13.5 points.
• Cooper tacked on 10 kills and five blocks, hitting .242.
• Emma Lenoir (Chattanooga, Tenn./East Hamilton HS) added 10 kills and 10 digs.
• Jessica Reber (Byron, Ill./Byron HS) dished out 43 assists with eight digs, four kills, two aces and two blocks.
• Mollie Wadsworth (Hernando, Miss./Northpoint Christian HS) notched eight kills, hitting .238 with three digs and two blocks.
• Maurer had three aces to go with six kills, four digs and two blocks.
• Blythe Clausen (Hendersonvile, Tenn./Pope John Paul II HS) led the way with 13 digs.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs return home Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. as they host Mississippi College.
