HUNTSVILLE, Ala.-Host Alabama Huntsville claimed a five-set win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Friday night at Spragins Hall.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• CBU (7-3, 3-2 GSC) jumped to a quick lead and never trailed in the first set, using a four-point run to open a 16-11 lead on a
Jessica Reber (Byron, Ill./Byron HS) ace. After UAH (8-2, 3-1) trimmed the Lady Bucs' lead to 18-16, CBU closed the set on a nine-point run, capped by a Reber block to win the set 25-16.
• In the second set it was the Chargers who took an early 3-0 lead and never trailed. CBU tied the set at 16, but a six-point UAH run gave them a 22-16 lead en route to a 25-18 win.
• UAH used an 8-2 run early to take control in the third set, steadily pulling away to a 25-13 win.
• The teams traded leads throughout the fourth set, with the Lady Bucs rallying from a 23-20 deficit to tie the set at 23 on a double-block by
Brinsley Cooper (Rossville, Ind./Rossville HS) and
Emma Lenoir (Chattanooga, Tenn./East Hamilton HS). After a UAH point, the Lady Bucs scored the final three to win 26-24 on a Lenoir kill, forcing a decisive fifth set.
• In the fifth set the Chargers jumped to early leads of 7-3 and 10-4, and they held on for a 15-8 win to clinch the match.
KEY STATS:
• Reber dished out 41 assists with 13 digs, four kills and two aces.
• Lenoir pounded 20 kills with 11 digs and two blocks.
• Cooper notched 11 kills with three blocks and two digs.

Blythe Clausen (Hendersonvile, Tenn./Pope John Paul II HS) garnered 16 digs with four assists.

Lauren Hoffman (Anchorage, Alaska/South Anchorage HS) notched 11 digs.

The Lady Bucs return to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. as they visit No. 24 North Alabama. Their next home match is Friday night, Sept. 30, when they host No. 23 West Florida at 6 p.m.
