Trojans Down Lady Bucs in Four

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Host Trevecca Nazarene handed the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs their first loss of the season Tuesday night in four sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bucs (4-1) led for the first half of the first set, as late as 12-11, before the Trojans (3-2) closed the set by scoring 14 of the final 20 points to win 25-18.
• In the second set, Trevecca jumped to leads of 12-4 and 18-8 before CBU fought back into the set with an 8-2 burst that brought them within 20-16 on a double-block by Brinsley Cooper (Rossville, Ind./Rossville HS) and Mollie Wadsworth (Hernando, Miss./Northpoint Christian HS). The Trojans scored the final five points of the set to claim a 25-16 win.
• In the third set it was CBU who jumped to early leads of 5-1, 10-6 and 16-8 as they cruised to a 25-14 win.
• The Trojans again took control early in the fourth set, jumping to early leads of 10-5, 12-6 and 15-7. The Lady Bucs steadily chipped away at the deficit, coming as close as two points at 22-20, 23-21 and 24-22 before an Alex Reuter kill gave the Trojans a 25-22 win in the set and a 3-1 win in the match.

KEY STATS:
• Emma Lenoir (Chattanooga, Tenn./East Hamilton HS) led the Lady Bucs with 12 kills and 14 points, adding nine digs, three blocks and an assist.
• Cooper added seven kills.
• Mary Kathryn Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS) notched five blocks and five kills, hitting .273.
• Jessica Reber (Byron, Ill./Byron HS) dished out 25 assists with nine digs, three kills, an ace and a block.
• Blythe Clausen (Hendersonvile, Tenn./Pope John Paul II HS) added 12 digs with five assists and three aces.

WHAT'S NEXT:
• The Lady Bucs return to action next Tuesday night, Sept. 13, as they host Shorter at 5 p.m. to open GSC play.
