No. 25 Chargers Top Bucs 81-69

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.-No. 25 Alabama Huntsville scored the game's first eight points and never trailed as they won 81-69 over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Monday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• UAH (10-3, 6-1 GSC) opened the game with back-to-back Kip Owens three-pointers as part of an 8-0 burst.
• The Bucs (8-6, 5-3) used a 9-2 run to close within 10-9 on an Adam Dieball (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) layup with 13:16 remaining in the first half.
• The Chargers answered with another 8-0 run to extend their lead to 18-9 on a Seab Webster triple with 10:06 remaining in the half.
• The Bucs again pulled within one possession as Brad Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder HS) made a pair of threes in a 7-0 spurt to close within 18-16 with 7:37 remaining in the half.
• The Chargers went on a 14-6 run late in the first half to extend their lead to double digits at 35-25 on a Justin Ward layup with 41 seconds remaining in the half.
• UAH opened the second half with a 17-2 run that put the game out of reach, capped by a Brandon Roberts triple with 17:01 remaining in the game to give the Chargers a 52-30 lead that they would eventually grow to as many as 24 points.
Joe Laravie (Kettering, Ohio/Alter HS) and Jordan Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS) combined for a 7-0 burst to cut the deficit to 17. Miller started the run with a layup. After Laravie found Miller for a triple, Miller returned the favor as he fed Laravie for a layup to cut the deficit to 56-39 with 13:33 to play.
• Laravie and Jordan Miller again combined for a 10-0 run later in the game to bring the Bucs back within single digits. Miller opened the run with back-to-back three-pointers off Laravie feeds, and Laravie capped the run with a four-point play to cut the deficit to 69-61 with 5:39 remaining.
• UAH put the game back out of reach with a 10-3 run capped by a David Anderson backdoor layup that gave them an 81-66 lead with 54 seconds remaining.

KEY STATS:
• Brad Miller led the Bucs with 17 points and a game-high three steals, making 5-of-9 three-pointers.
• Jordan Miller tacked on 16 with five rebounds. He finished 6-of-8 from the floor overall, making all three three-pointers.
• Dieball scored 13 with eight rebounds.
Mitch Mays (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) added 10 with five boards.
• The Bucs shot a season-low 34.3 percent (23-of-67) from the floor overall despite shooting 41.9 percent (13-of-31) from beyond the arc. UAH finished 51.8 percent (29-of-56) overall, including 27.5 percent (9-of-24) from three-point range.
• UAH held a 40-38 edge in rebounds. The Bucs out-rebounded UAH 12-3 on the offensive glass and forced nine turnovers while committing six.
