Lady Bucs Rally Past Lady Chargers 57-52

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs used a 26-5 run in the second half to take control en route to a 57-52 win at Alabama Huntsville Monday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• UAH (2-10, 1-6 GSC) led for nearly the entire first half, using a 14-5 run to take a 16-8 lead on a Loren Foster triple with 3:44 remaining in the first quarter.
• A 7-0 run brought CBU (7-5, 4-4) within a point at 16-15 on a Samantha Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) jumper with 9:41 remaining in the second quarter.
• UAH controlled the rest of the second quarter, eventually stretching their lead to 34-24 when Katie Speegle scored the first basket of the second half with 9:15 remaining in the third quarter.
• From there, Reeves almost singlehandedly brought CBU back into the game, scoring seven straight points to start the decisive 19-2 run. By the time Reeves capped the run with a layup with 6:32 remaining in the game, the Lady Bucs led 50-39. UAH never came closer than nine points again until the final 30 seconds.

KEY STATS:
• Reeves scored a game-high 22 points with eight rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Rachel Lee (Jackson, Tenn./Jackson Christian School) tacked on 13 points with four rebounds.
Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) added 12 with three assists.
• The Lady Bucs shot 43.8 percent (21-of-48) for the game, including 37.5 percent (6-of-16) from three-point range. UAH finished 34.6 percent (18-of-52) overall and 29.2 percent (9-of-16) from beyond the arc.
• UAH out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 39-31, including a 10-4 edge in offensive boards. CBU forced 17 turnovers while committing 11.

The Lady Bucs return home Thursday night at 5 p.m. as they face Shorter.
