Lady Bucs Sweep Warhawks

MONTGOMERY, Ala.-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs evened their record in Gulf South Conference play Friday night with a three-set win at Auburn-Montgomery.

CBU 3, Auburn-Montgomery 0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-18):
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bucs (14-15, 6-6 GSC) seized control of the first set quickly with a six-point run capped by a Mollie Wadsworth (Hernando, Miss./Northpoint Christian HS) ace that gave them a 7-1 lead they would not relinquish. A three-point burst later stretched the lead to 14-7. AUM (9-15, 1-10) closed within 22-20 on back-to-back blocks, but a Blythe Clausen (Hendersonvile, Tenn./Pope John Paul II HS) kill and another Wadsworth ace gave CBU a 24-20 lead, and Gennah Schoen (Portland, Ore./David Douglas HS) clinched the set with a kill to win 25-22.
• In the second set, after a back-and-forth start, an eight-point CBU run gave the Lady Bucs a commanding 19-10 lead on an Erica Maurer (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) ace, and they never allowed AUM closer than four again in a 25-19 win.
• After spotting AUM a 3-0 lead, the Lady Bucs took the lead in the third set with a 9-2 run capped by a Clausen ace that gave them a 9-5 edge. The Warhawks used a four-point burst to tie the set, but CBU would pull away for good with a four-point run of their own, taking a 19-14 advantage on a bad set. After AUM came within 21-18, the Lady Bucs wrapped up the sweep with four straight points to win 25-18.
