MEMPHIS-Visiting North Alabama clinched a Gulf South Conference Tournament berth as they swept the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Friday night at Canale Arena.
UNA 3, CBU 0 (25-19, 25-9, 25-20):
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• After the teams traded leads early, the Lions (23-6, 11-2 GSC) took the lead with a five-point run to take a 13-10 edge. CBU (14-16, 6-7) rallied to take a 19-18 lead on a
Mary Kathryn Miller (Fulton, Ky./Fulton City HS) ace that capped a 6-1 run, but UNA closed the set with seven straight points to win the set.
• The Lions opened the second set the way they finished the first, building early leads of 3-0, 9-1 and 13-3 en route to a 25-9 win as they hit .424 for the set.
• UNA took another 3-0 lead in the third set, but the Lady Bucs answered with five straight to take a 5-3 lead on an
Erica Maurer (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) kill. The set would see nine ties and eight lead changes in all. CBU used a three-point burst to take a 16-15 edge on a
Destini Berry (Bartlett, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) kill, after back-to-back double-blocks by Berry and
Erica Maurer (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy). UNA answered with a 6-1 run to take the lead for good, eventually winning 25-20 to clinch the sweep.
KEY STATS:
• Berry had career-highs of five kills, six blocks and eight points, all team-highs.
• Miller added five kills and a pair of aces.

Anna Graziosi (Lakeland, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) dished out 13 assists.
•
Kapria Manning (Olive Branch, Miss./Center Hill HS) notched a team-high eight digs with four kills and two blocks.
• Maurer added four kills and four blocks.
