MEMPHIS-Both the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs and visiting Montevallo scored twice in quick succession in the first half, but they settled for a 2-2 tie in double overtime Sunday afternoon at Signaigo Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bucs (8-3-1, 6-2-1 GSC) wasted no time finding the scoreboard. In just the third minute,
Sinead Tierney (Winsford, England/St. Nicholas Catholic HS) scored her second goal of the season on a header.
Emily Woods (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) played a short corner kick to
Lauren Magdefrau (Raleigh, N.C./Cardinal Gibbons HS), who sent it back to Woods in the corner. Woods served a cross into the 6-yard box for Tierney, who headed it into the right side of the net.
• In the ninth minute, CBU doubled its advantage.
Bailey Tadlock (Mandeville, La./Fontainebleau HS) drew a foul as she tried to take a shot inside the 18-yard box, and
Caitlin Barnes (Olive Branch, Miss./Center Hill HS) converted the ensuing penalty for her third goal of the season.
• Montevallo (6-3-1, 4-3-1) broke through on a free kick in the 27th minute. Off a free kick from the left side beyond the 18-yard box, Allye Darnell sent a cross to the back post for Michaila Franklin, who scored her second goal of the season.
• The Falcons scored the equalizer just 41 seconds later as Darnell intercepted CBU throw-in and dribbled in on the goalkeeper, scoring into the left side.
• From there, neither team would find the net again as the goalkeepers made saves on the game's final nine shots on goal.
