ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.-Embry-Riddle opened the game on a 15-2 run and never allowed the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs closer than four points again as they claimed a 68-58 win in the SSC-GSC Challenge Friday afternoon at Eckerd.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Eagles (1-0) scored the game's first 10 points, extending their lead to 15-2 on a pair of Lauren Ellenberger free throws with 3:45 remaining in the first quarter.
• CBU (0-1) steadily whittled away at the lead, scoring the final eight of the first quarter to come within 19-11 on a
Sara Owen (Dyersburg, Tenn./Dyer County HS) three-point play in the final seconds of the quarter. A
Brynne Lytle (Jackson, Tenn./Trinity Christian Academy) layup brought them within 24-18 with 4:27 remaining in the second quarter.
• ERU used a 12-2 run to open a 51-35 lead, their largest of the game, on an Ashley McWilliams jumper with 2:49 remaining in the third quarter.
• The Lady Bucs answered with a 10-0 run to come within a 55-50 margin on a Lytle triple with 7:46 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Rafaella Angelidou (Thessaloniki, Greece/Aristoteleio Kollegeio) scored four straight points later in the fourth to bring CBU as close as 60-56 on a basket with 4:58 remaining, but the Eagles closed the game on an 8-2 run to set the final margin.
KEY STATS:
•
Makayla Enochs (Finley, Tenn./Dyer County HS) scored a team-high 13 for the Lady Bucs before fouling out in 26 minutes, adding three rebounds and a steal.
• Angelidou scored 12 with two assists, two rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes.
• Lytle scored nine in her CBU debut, making 4-of-5 field goals including her only three-point shot.

Kelsey Adkins (Lawrenceburg, Tenn./Lawrence County HS) added seven points and six rebounds.
• The Lady Bucs shot 46.8 percent (22-of-47) from the field to ERU's 46.4 percent (26-of-56), but the Eagles shot 40 percent (10-of-25) from three-point range to CBU's 23.5 percent (4-of-17).
• ERU out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 32-24, including a 12-5 edge in offensive rebounds. They also forced 18 CBU turnovers while committing 17.

The Lady Bucs return to action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. as they face host Eckerd. Their home opener is set for Tuesday, Nov. 21, when they host Arkansas-Monticello at 5 p.m.
