SAINT PETERSBURG, Florida-Host Eckerd used a 20-3 run spanning most of the first quarter to take a commanding early lead as they defeated the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 78-56 Saturday afternoon in the SSC-GSC Crossover.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• After CBU (0-2) scored first, the Tritons (2-0) went on a 20-3 run to take a 20-5 lead on a Chelsea Johnson triple with 2:35 remaining in the first quarter.
• Eckerd opened the second quarter with a 20-0 run capped by a Yarden Danan layup that gave them a 43-12 lead with 4:47 remaining in the half. CBU never came closer than 22 again.
KEY STATS:

Kelsey Adkins (Lawrenceburg, Tenn./Lawrence County HS) led the Lady Bucs with career-bests of 15 points and five rebounds, making 5-of-9 all from three-point range.

Rafaella Angelidou (Thessaloniki, Greece/Aristoteleio Kollegeio) added 12 points with six rebounds and two assists.

Kenzie Jones (Park Hills, Mo./Central HS) tacked on 11 with five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
• The Tritons shot 48.2 percent (27-of-56) to CBU's 30 percent (18-of-60). Eckerd shot 48 percent (12-of-25) from beyond the arc, while the Lady Bucs shot just 23.3 percent (7-of-30).
• Eckerd out-rebounded the Lady Bucs 41-37, but CBU held a 15-12 edge in offensive rebounds and forced 17 Triton turnovers while committing 15.

The Lady Bucs return to action Tuesday night at 7 p.m. as they visit Austin Peay in their final exhibition game of the season. Their home opener is set for Tuesday, Nov. 21, when they host Arkansas-Monticello at 5 p.m.
