JACKSON, Tennessee-Playing in just her third collegiate game, her first in her hometown, Christian Brothers University freshman guard
Brynne Lytle (Jackson, Tenn., Trinity Christian Academy) posted game-highs of 19 points and 10 rebounds off the bench to lead the Lady Bucs to a 62-55 win at Lane Thursday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bucs (1-2) trailed for just 42 seconds in the game, but the first 12 minutes saw six ties before the Lady Bucs seized control with a 15-2 run.
Shelmesha Barbee (Ripley, Tenn./Ripley HS) broke the tie with a bucket. After Lytle made a basket and two three-pointers,
Rafaella Angelidou (Thessaloniki, Greece/Aristoteleio Kollegeio) capped the burst with a layup that gave CBU a 30-17 lead with 4:10 remaining in the first half, a lead which would prove to be their largest of the night.
• The Dragons (0-3) trimmed the CBU lead back to three points early in the third quarter when a LeKeiya Lane three-point play cut the deficit to 32-29 with 7:06 remaining. An Alisha Fortenberry layup two minutes later brought the Dragons within 35-34 with 5:04 remaining in the quarter.
• After an Angelidou free throw, another Lytle triple sparked a quick 8-0 burst capped by a
Makayla Enochs (Finley, Tenn./Dyer County HS) three that gave the Lady Bucs a 43-34 lead with 2:43 remaining in the third period. Lane never came closer than six points in the fourth quarter.
