ALEXANDRIA, La.-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs committed eight errors as they dropped a pair of games to Central Baptist and host LSU-Alexandria in the LSU-Alexandria Mardi Gras Tournament.
GAME 1:
WHAT HAPPENED:
Central Baptist (1-3) scored seven runs in the first two innings as they claimed a 7-2 win in CBU's first game of the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Mustangs used two singles and two errors to plate three runs in the top of the first inning.
• CBC added four more in the top of the second on four singles and a triple.
• The Lady Bucs (2-2) scored their first run in the bottom of the second.
Julia Schassburger (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central HS) singled, moved to second on a
Kylie Steagall (San Diego, Calif./Steele Canyon HS) sacrifice and stole third. An
Olivia Parsels (Germantown, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) single plated her.
• CBU added another in the bottom of the third as
Amber Johnson (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) hit a one-out triple and scored on a
Holly Oyhenart (Menifee, Calif./Paloma Valley HS) groundout.
KEY STATS:
• Johnson went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run.
• Schassburger was 1-for-2 with a stolen base and a run.
• Parsels went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Jenna Cotter (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) threw five and two-thirds scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit against four strikeouts.
GAME 2:
WHAT HAPPENED:
Six CBU errors led to seven unearned runs as host LSU-Alexandria, the NAIA's No. 22 team, claimed a 9-1 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Generals (3-1) scored twice in the first inning on a walk, two singles and an error.
• LSUA used two singles, an error and a sacrifice fly to score another run in the bottom of the second.
• The Generals blew it open in the bottom of the fourth with six runs on five singles and three errors.
• CBU broke through for a run in the bottom of the fifth.
Toni Rizzo (St. Rose, La./John Curtis Christian) hit a leadoff triple and scored on a
Jacqueline Conlan (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) single to left.
KEY STATS:
• Rizzo was 1-for-2 with a triple and a run.
• Conlan went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
• Schassburger was 1-for-2
• Steagall went 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit single.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs hit the road again next weekend for the Auburn-Montgomery tournament, where they will face Spring Hill and Auburn-Montgomery twice each, once Saturday and once Sunday. Their home opener is set for Saturday, Feb. 18, when they host No. 13 Valdosta State for a 1 p.m. twinbill.
