Argos Down Bucs 73-68

PENSACOLA, Fla.-Host West Florida used a 14-0 first-half run to take the lead on their way to a 73-68 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Bucs (14-9, 11-6 GSC) took control early, using an 11-2 run to open a 17-9 lead on a Jeff Larkin (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) triple with 14:00 remaining in the first half.
• West Florida (15-7, 10-7) took the lead back with the 14-0 run, capped by a Darryl Tucker layup that gave them a 26-19 edge with 7:20 remaining in the half. 
• CBU used a 12-4 run early in the second half to draw even when a Larkin layup knotted the game at 41 with 17:26 remaining.
• The Argos answered with another 9-0 run, building a 52-43 lead on a Denagelo Legrier layup with 10:52 remaining.
• The Bucs used an 8-2 burst to pull within 70-68 on a pair of Larkin free throws with 18 seconds remaining, but UWF made three of four free throws and the Bucs missed a three-pointer in the final seconds as the Argos sealed the victory.

KEY STATS:
Adam Dieball (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) led the Bucs with game-highs of 23 points and seven rebounds. He was 7-of-16 from the floor, including 6-of-12 from three-point range.
• Larkin scored 14 points with four rebounds and four assists.
Brad Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder HS) added 11 with five rebounds.
• The Bucs shot 42.2 percent (19-of-45) overall, including 40 percent (10-of-25) from three-point range. UWF shot 48.1 percent (26-of-54) overall, including 33.3 percent (4-of-12) from beyond the arc.
• CBU out-rebounded the Argos 33-29. UWF held an 11-10 edge in offensive boards and committed just nine turnovers while forcing a season-high 18 turnovers from CBU.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs visit first-place Valdosta State Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. before finishing the regular season with three of the last four games at home. Their next home game is Thursday night at 7 p.m. against Mississippi College.
