MEMPHIS-Visiting Delta State claimed a 13-2 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday afternoon. Saturday's second game was postponed to Sunday due to an umpire scheduling conflict.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• DSU (13-19, 6-13 GSC) struck first with two runs in the top of the first on a single and a two-run Mari Alex Sandridge homer.
• The Lady Statesmen added four in the second inning on a walk, two singles and a triple.
• The Lady Bucs (6-30, 0-19) broke through in the bottom of the second when
Julia Schassburger (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central HS) blasted a leadoff homer to left field.
• DSU tacked on four runs in the fourth on four singles and a walk.
• CBU scored a run in the bottom of the fourth when
Toni Rizzo (St. Rose, La./John Curtis Christian) worked a leadoff walk and scored on a double by Schassburger.
• The Lady Statesmen set the final margin in the top of the fifth when they scored three runs on two singles and two doubles.

• Schassburger went 2-for-3 with a double, a homer, a run and one RBI.
• Rizzo was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and a run.
