Lady Flames Outslug Lady Bucs 12-4

MEMPHIS-Lee leadoff hitter Stevie Baird hit two grand slams as the visiting Lady Flames claimed a 12-4 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday at Bland Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Baird put the Lady Flames (32-13, 18-9 GSC) on the board in the top of the second inning when she followed two singles and an error with a towering grand slam down the left-field line. After a walk, Taylor Moran hit a two-run homer to left to give Lee a 6-0 lead.
• CBU (6-38, 0-27) scored a run in the bottom of the inning. Maddi Welch (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) singled up the middle and moved to second on a Sierra Anderson (Olive Branch, Miss./Lewisburg HS) walk, scoring on an Abby Ferreira (Santa Clarita, Calif./Saugus HS) single up the middle.
• Lee added two more in the top of the fourth on a double, a single, a sacrifice fly and an error.
• The Lady Bucs plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Walks to Shelby Crocker (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) and Jacqueline Conlan (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) and a single by Blake Andres (Arlington, Tenn./Briarcrest HS) loaded the bases for Holly Oyhenart (Menifee, Calif./Paloma Valley HS), who blasted a three-run double to the gap in left-center to bring CBU within 8-4.
• Baird set the final margin with her second grand slam in the top of the fifth, following two singles and a walk with a grand slam to right-center.
