CARROLLTON, Ga.-Host West Georgia swept a Gulf South Conference doubleheader from the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday afternoon, winning the opener 10-0 and taking an 8-3 win in the nightcap.
GAME 1:
WHAT HAPPENED:
UWG (21-19, 11-12 GSC) scored in three of their four innings as they won 10-0 in the opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Wolves scored two runs in the second on a single and a two-run homer by Lexie Stohr.
• UWG added three runs in the third on a single, a two-run homer by Raven Smith, a double, a single and a sacrifice fly.
• The Wolves set the final margin with a five-run fourth on four doubles, an error and three singles.
KEY STATS:

Olivia Parsels (Germantown, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) went 1-for-2 with a double.

GAME 2:
WHAT HAPPENED:
The Lady Bucs (6-34, 0-23) took an early lead, but UWG used a four-run third inning to take the lead for good in an 8-3 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• CBU struck first with a run in the top of the first.
Amber Johnson (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) led off with a single. After moving to second on a Parsels groundout, she scored on a
Julia Schassburger (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central HS) double.
• UWG tied the game in the bottom of the first with a run on a single, a stolen base, a groundout and a wild pitch.
• The Wolves added four runs in the third on a double, a triple and four singles.
• The Lady Bucs shaved a run off the deficit in the fourth when Steagall hit a leadoff homer.
• UWG scored two in the bottom of the inning on two singles and a double.
• CBU added another run in the fifth. Welch walked and moved to second on a Johnson bunt single. A parsels groundout moved them to second and third, and Welch scored on an
Abby Ferreira (Santa Clarita, Calif./Saugus HS) groundout.
• The Wolves set the final margin with a run in the bottom of the fifth on three two-out singles.
