Lions Blank Lady Bucs 2-0

MEMPHIS-Visiting Saint Leo scored two first-half goals 10 minutes apart as they claimed a 2-0 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Friday night at Signaigo Field in the season opener for both schools.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lions (1-0-0) opened the scoring in the 12th minute as Sofie Haellsten scored off a Natalie Melillo corner kick.
• SLU doubled its edge in the 22nd minute on an unassisted goal by Rebecca Anderson.

KEY STATS:
Riley Chafin (Little Rock, Ark./Central HS) made two saves in her CBU debut.
Nikesha Mitchell (Toronto, Ontario/Cedarbrae C.I.) took a team-best three shots.
• CBU out-shot the Lions 13-11 overall, but SLU held a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.
