MEMPHIS-Sophomore
Anna Della Rosa (Collierville, Tenn., Houston HS) scored two goals with an assist to lead the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs to their fifth straight win, and their third straight shutout, as they blanked Shorter 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Signaigo Field in a game that was called early after a pair of lightning delays.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Della Rosa assisted on the game's first goal for CBU (6-2-0, 4-1-0 GSC) in the 17th minute. She won a loose ball 25 yards from the goal and dropped a pass back to
Bailey Tadlock (Mandeville, La./Fontainebleau HS), who curled a long shot into the top right corner for her fourth goal of the season.
• Tadlock returned the favor in the 56th minute when she sent a throughball to Della Rosa on the right side at the top of the 18-yard box, and she fired a shot into the left side of the net for her second goal of the season.
• Della Rosa set the final margin in the 64th minute.
Shelby Goodrich (Eads, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) intercepted a pass on a goal kick from the Shorter (1-5-1, 0-4-0) goalkeeper. She dribbled into the six-yard box, then dropped a pass to Della Rosa near the penalty spot. She shot into the left side of the net for the 3-0 lead.
• In the 66th minute, lightning moved within an eight-mile perimeter of Signaigo Field, forcing a 30-minute lightning delay. After play resumed, another lightning strike came within the perimeter in the 78th minute, and the game was called final.
KEY STATS:
• CBU out-shot the Lady Hawks 14-5, including a 6-2 edge in shots on goal.
•
Autumn Woods (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) made two saves for the Lady Bucs.
