MONTEVALLO, Ala.-Host Montevallo swept a three-set match from the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Friday night.
Montevallo 3, CBU 0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-19):
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Falcons (6-6, 2-3 GSC) jumped to early leads of 7-2 and 9-3 in the opening set. CBU (7-10, 2-3) closed within 14-11, but a 9-2 run extended Montevallo's lead to 23-13 en route to a 25-15 win in the opening set.
• After the teams traded points to start the second set, Montevallo broke a 5-5 tie with a 6-1 run to take an 11-6 edge. They led by as many as eight points at 19-11 before CBU used an 8-1 run to pull within 20-19 on an attack error. The Falcons scored five of the final six points to claim a 25-20 win in the set.
• Montevallo strung together three three-point bursts for a 9-3 run as they took a 15-10 lead in the third set. The Lady Bucs came within two points three times, as late as 19-17, before montevallo closed the match out with a 6-2 run to win 25-19.
KEY STATS:

Emma Lenoir (Chattanooga, Tenn./East Hamilton HS) led the CBU offense with 10 kills, adding seven digs.

Erica Maurer (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) tacked on eight kills.
•
Alexa Henderson (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie HS) dished out 27 assists with three digs.

Blythe Clausen (Hendersonvile, Tenn./Pope John Paul II HS) notched a team-high eight digs.
