Falcons Drop No. 22/NR Bucs 74-60

MONTEVALLO, Ala.-Host Montevallo shot 57 percent as they claimed a 74-60 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Adam Dieball (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) carried the Bucs (13-5, 5-5 GSC) to an early 9-0 run with a three-pointer and assists on triples by Joe Laravie (Kettering, Ohio/Alter HS) and Alex Trentman (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart HS), the latter staking the Bucs to a 9-2 lead with 17:31 remaining in the first half.
• Montevallo (10-9, 5-5) took the lead for good with a 17-3 run capped by a Chris Williams three-point play that gave them a 21-14 edge with 10:07 remaining in the half.
• A 14-2 run later in the half extended the Falcons' lead to 39-21 on a Jeremiah Curtis layup with 2:09 remaining in the half.
• Tyler Brough sank three consecutive triples early in the second half to give Montevallo a 51-26 lead, their largest of the night, with 16:17 remaining. The Bucs never came closer than 14 points again.

KEY STATS:
• Dieball scored a game-high 20 with four rebounds and three assists.
• Laravie added 12 with three rebounds and two steals.
• Trentman tacked on seven with a team-best six rebounds.
• CBU shot just 37.7 percent (23-of-61) from the field, including 32.4 percent (11-of-34) from beyond the arc. Montevallo finished 57.1 percent (28-of-49) from the field and 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from three-point range.
• The Falcons out-rebounded CBU 33-29, but CBU held an 11-4 edge in offensive boards, with each team committing 13 turnovers.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs visit West Alabama Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. Their next home game is set for next Thursday, when they host Lee at 7 p.m.
