Chargers Freeze No. 5/5 Bucs 71-51

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.-The No. 5/5 Christian Brothers University Bucs suffered their coldest shooting night in nearly two years Saturday in a 71-51 loss at Alabama Huntsville.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Chargers (10-5, 3-4 GSC) opened the game with a 16-4 run capped by a Chayse Elliott layup with 11:56 remaining in the first half. 
• The Bucs (12-2, 4-2) used an 8-2 burst to close within 20-14 on an Adam Dieball (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) layup with 9:26 remaining in the half, but they would come no closer.
• UAH closed the opening half on a 10-4 burst to take a 38-23 lead into halftime as Tanner Finley sank a triple as the half expired.
• A 9-2 UAH run early in the second half extended their lead to 47-27 on a Justin Ward triple with 16:24 remaining in the game, and the Bucs were never able to come closer than 15 points again.

KEY STATS:
Jeff Larkin (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle HS) led the Bucs with 14 points.
Alex Trentman (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart HS) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds with seven points, two blocks and two steals.
• The Bucs shot just 29.9 percent (20-of-67) overall, including just 8.0 percent (2-of-25) from three-point range. UAH finished 47.4 percent (27-of-57) overall, including 30 percent (9-of-30) from beyond the arc.
• The Chargers out-rebounded CBU 41-40, but the Bucs held a 15-7 edge in offensive rebounds and forced seven UAH turnovers while committing five.

NOTABLE:
• The Bucs' 29.9 percent field goal percentage was their lowest since shooting 26.3 percent in a loss to Delta Sate Jan. 30, 2016.
• CBU's 8.0 percent three-point percentage was their lowest in a game since they shot 3.7 percent (1-for-27) in a loss to Harding Jan. 27, 2007.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs return to action Tuesday night at 8 p.m. as they visit North Alabama. Their next home game is set for Saturday, Jan. 13, when they host Valdosta State at 3 p.m.
