ROME, Georgia-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs took a 2-1 lead into the fourth set, but host Shorter rallied to hand the Lady Bucs a five-set defeat.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bucs (8-11, 2-5 GSC) led for most of the first set, breaking a 14-all tie with a quick three-point run capped by a double-block by
Mollie Wadsworth (Hernando, Miss./Northpoint Christian HS) and
Gennah Schoen (Portland, Ore./David Douglas HS) that gave them a 17-14 edge they would not relinquish. An
Alexa Henderson (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie HS) ace gave CBU a 24-21 edge, and they clinched the win at 25-23 on an
Emma Lenoir (Chattanooga, Tenn./East Hamilton HS) kill.
• In the second set, CBU used a four-point run to ake a 10-7 advantage on a Wadsworth kill, but the Lady Hawks (5-8, 2-4) answered with a 10-1 run as they took a 17-11 lead en route to a 25-15 win.
• The Lady Bucs seized control of the third set with an early seven-point run capped by a Schoen kill that gave them a 7-2 lead. Shorter came as close as one point at 10-9 before the Lady Bucs rebuilt their lead to as many as seven points at 21-14 in a 25-20 win.
• After CBU took early leads of 3-0, 9-5 and 11-6, the Lady Hawks used a 7-1 burst to take a 14-13 advantage. The teams traded leads, with a Wadsworth kill giving CBU a 20-19 cushion, but Shorter closed the set with a 6-1 run to wiin 25-21 and force a fifth set.
• Neither team scored more than two consecutive points in the fifth set, with Shorter using a 4-1 burst midway through to open a 12-8 lead, and they held on for a 15-11 win.

• Lenoir hit .267 with 27 kills and nine digs.
• Wadsworth hit .241 with nine kills and two blocks.

Miaya Smith (Memphis, Tenn./St. George's Independent School) had nine kills and four blocks for 13 points.
