Wolves Down Lady Bucs in Four

CARROLLTON, Georgia-After losing the first two sets, the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs rallied for a win in the third set, but host West Georgia won the fourth set to take the victory Thursday night.

UWG 3, CBU 1 (25-17, 25-18, 18-25, 25-18)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The teams traded runs in the first set. Both CBU (8-12, 2-6 GSC) and the Wolves (9-6, 4-4) each logged a three-point run and a four-point run as they played to a 10-10 tie. The Wolves pulled away, however, outscoring CBU 11-4 to close the set en route to a 25-17 win.
• UWG used two big runs to seize control of the second set. First, a six-point run gave them a 9-4 edge. After the Lady Bucs scored four straight to close within 9-8, UWG answered with a seven-point run to take a 16-8 edge, and they never allowed CBU closer than six again in a 25-18 win.
• After a back-and-forth start to the third set, CBU exploded for a six-point run capped by an Emma Lenoir (Chattanooga, Tenn./East Hamilton HS) kill to take an 18-13 lead they would not relinquish, never allowing the Wolves closer than four again in a 25-18 win to stay alive.
• Again in the fourth set, the Wolves used a pair of early runs, taking an 8-3 lead on a five-point run and extending it to 12-5 with a four-point run.. They never allowed the Lady Bucs closer than five again as they clinched the victory.
