Women's Soccer Victorious in Overtime Thriller at Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs soccer team squeezed out a 3-2 double-overtime victory at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Despite being outshot by the Lady Flames, things remained knotted at zero going into halftime. Lady Bucs goalkeeper Riley Chafin (Little Rock, Ark./Central HS) saved all five of Lee's shots on goals in the first 45 minutes.
  • Momentum shifted in the 50th minute in favor of Lee when a foul was called against the Lady Bucs in the box. The Lady Flames converted the penalty kick, and took a 1-0 lead.
  • CBU answered in the 63rd minute to tie things up, 1-1. Shelby Goodrich (Eads, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) got the goal on an assist from Bailey Tadlock (Mandeville, La./Fontainebleau HS). However, things would not remain even for long, as the Lady Flames responded just eight seconds later to re-take the lead.
  • The Lady Bucs would not be denied, though, as Sinead Tierney (Winsford, England/St. Nicholas Catholic HS) netted the equalizer two minutes later, her ninth of the season, off an assist from Tadlock.
  • Tadlock scored the winner in the second overtime, scoring in the 106th minute as she redirected a header from Tierney off a corner kick from Melissa Tammi (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS).
KEY STATS:
  • Sophomore forward Bailey Tadlock (Mandeville, La./Fontainebleau HS) netted her sixth and seventth assists in the 2018 campaign. Tadlock has logged all seven assists in the previous eight games.
  • Today's overtime victory marks the first win in overtime this season in three tries for the Lady Bucs, bringing their record to 1-1-1. CBU also went 1-1-1 last season in overtime last season.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
  • CBU remains on the road for another GSC match-up on Sunday. The Lady Bucs will travel to Georgia to face Shorter University with first kick scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CBU's next home game is set for Thursday, Oct. 25, when they host Montevallo at 5 p.m.
