Lady Bucs complete weekend sweep, win 1-0

ROME, Georgia – The Christian Brother University Lady Bucs soccer team rolled to a 1-0 win over Shorter University at Ben Brady Field on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lady Bucs hopped out to an early lead, bagging the game's first, and only, goal in the eighth minute. Senior midfielder Connie Strini (Germantown, Tenn./Houston HS) converted the goal off a pass from Melissa Tammi (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS), putting CBU up 1-0.
KEY STATS:
  • Goalkeeper Riley Chafin (Little Rock, Ark./Central HS) posted her third clean sheet of the season after having two in all of 2017. Against Shorter, Chafin saved all seven shots on target.
  • Connie Strini's (Germantown, Tenn./Houston HS) goal is her second career game-winner for the Lady Bucs. As a freshman, Strini netted the game-winning goal against Clayton State.
  • Melissa Tammi's (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) assist to Strini was her fourth of the season and the second in as many games. Tammi is currently tied with Anna Della Rosa (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) for second on the Lady Bucs in assists.
  • With today's win, the Lady Bucs improve to 6-3-0 in Gulf South Conference play, good for fourth place in the standings with four games remaining.
WHAT'S NEXT:
  • CBU remains on the road for second consecutive road trip next weekend. The Lady Bucs will travel back to Georgia to face West Georgia on Friday and Valdosta State Sunday. First kick on Friday is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Their next home game is Thursday, Oct. 25, when they host Montevallo at 5 p.m.
