Lady Bucs Clinch GSC Tournament Berth With Draw

MEMPHIS, Tenn.. – The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs played to a stalemate against Montevallo, 1-1 in double overtime at a muddy Signaigo Field on Thursday, clinching a berth in next week's Gulf South Conference Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Both teams took time adjusting to the field in the first half, with neither team getting on the board.
  • The Lady Bucs (7-6-2, 5-4-1 GSC) struck first three minutes into the second half. CBU drew a foul outside the box and on the free kick Bobbie Willis (Bartlett, Tenn./Arlington HS) smashed a ball that was headed in by Regan Hafer (Arlington, Texas/Nolan Catholic HS) for the goal.
  • However, the Falcons (7-6-3, 5-4-1) responded to the Hafer goal by applying pressure, eventually netting the equalizer in the 75th minute.
KEY STATS:
  • Memphis native Regan Hafer's (Arlington, Texas/Nolan Catholic HS) goal marks her first career goal for Christian Brothers.
  • Junior transfer Mia Holmes (Brandon, Miss./Brandon HS) also got her first career start at goalkeeper for the Lady Bucs. Holmes saved six shots in her debut.
