Lady Bucs cap strong performance on Senior Day

MEMPHIS – On Senior Day, and the regular season finale, the Christian Brother University Lady Bucs soccer team cruised to a 6-0 victory at Signaigo Field on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lady Bucs (8-6-2, 7-5-1 GSC), scoring early and often, strung together two goals in 55 seconds, with Shelby Goodrich (Eads, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) burying the first goal off a Melissa Tammi (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) assist. That followed with Anna Della Rosa (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) scoring off a goalkeeper rebound to put the Lady Bucs up 2-0.
  • Senior midfielder Sinead Tierney (Winsford, England/St. Nicholas Catholic HS) capped off the first half with a goal of her own off an assist from Bailey Tadlock (Mandeville, La./Fontainebleau HS) in the 32nd minute.
  • Melissa Tammi (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) ensured there would be no comeback, scoring her Senior Day goal just thirty seconds into the second-half.
  • Bailey Tadlock (Mandeville, La./Fontainebleau HS) logged her second assist of the day in the 52nd minute when she fed Meg Sander (Little Rock, Ark./Central HS) in the box for the Lady Bucs fifth goal.
  • Finally, reserve forward Hannah Fitzgerald (Jackson, Tenn./Sacred Heart of Jesus HS) gave the Lady Bucs their season-high sixth goal on a solo run for her first career goal.
KEY STATS:
  • Nearly every senior recorded a goal for the Lady Bucs (Tierney, Tammi and Goodrich), with the lone exception coming from Connie Strini (Germantown, Tenn./Houston HS). Strini had a shot get past the goalkeeper but the ball stopped just short of the goal line in a mud puddle.
  • In just her second career start in goal, Mia Holmes (Brandon, Miss./Brandon HS) posted her first career clean sheet, saving three shots.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
  • CBU heads into the GSC Tournament as the No. 8 seed. They will open GSC Tournament play Tuesday as they visit No. 2 West Florida, the top-seeded team. Kickoff time has not been determined. UWF won the regular season meeting 2-1 in overtime, the only time UWF has gone to extra time this season.
