MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs won the first set, but visiting Union won the next three to claim a four-set win Tuesday night at Canale Arena.
Union 3, CBU 1 (13-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-23)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bucs (12-18, 3-11 GSC) jumped to early leads of 4-1, 6-2 and 9-3, leading by as many as 12 points as they rolled to a 25-13 win in the first set.
• In the second set, the Lady Bulldogs (7-24, 3-11) took early leads of their own, jumping out to advantages of 7-3 and 11-5, and they never allowed CBU closer than three points again. The Lady Bulldogs served for set point ahead 24-17 before CBU scored four straight to close within 21, but a service error gave the Lady Bulldogs set point.
• After the teams played to a 10-10 tie early in the third set, Union scored nine of the next 11 as they pulled away to a 19-12 lead en route to a 25-16 win.
• CBU used a four-point run to open a 13-10 lead in the fourth set, and they used a later three-point run to extend it to 20-15 before the Lady Bulldogs scored 10 of the final 13 points to rally for a 25-23 win.
KEY STATS:

Miaya Smith (Memphis, Tenn./St. George's Independent School) hit .654 with 18 kills, five blocks and an ace for 22 points.

Emma Lenoir (Chattanooga, Tenn./East Hamilton HS) pounded 22 kills with 14 digs.

Joze Smith (Atoka, Tenn./Tipton-Rosemark Academy) notched 18 digs.
•
Alayna Jetton (Nesbit, Miss./St. Agnes Academy) garnered 12 digs.
•
Alexa Henderson (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie HS) had 10 digs and two blocks to go with 44 assists.
