Bucs Fall To #6 Valdosta State


VALDOSTA, Georgia- #6 Valdosta State University started off hot with a 14-0 run against the Christian Brothers University Bucs and never looked back as they never trailed again in the ballgame as they ran away with a 84-71 victory against the Bucs Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • Clay Guillozet was everywhere during the Blazers' (7-0, 2-0 GSC) 14-0 run to start the game, as he recorded four points, three rebounds, one assist, and a steal.
  • The Bucs (5-2, 1-1) made their biggest push to close the lead late in the first half as they went on a 17-7 run to narrow the score to 34-47. This was the closest, to the lead, the Bucs got for the rest of the game.
  • The Bucs outscored the Blazers in the second half 35-32, but it wasn't enough for the Bucs to make a comeback.

KEY STATS:
  • Adam Dieball (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) finished the game with a double-double, with 17 points, 11 rebounds. He almost completed the triple-double as he also tallied nine assists in the game.
  • Joe Laravie (Kettering, Ohio/Alter HS) led the scoring for the Bucs with 20 points. 
  • Nicke Deifel tacked on 12 points and four rebounds.
  • The Bucs shot 44.4 percent (28-63) from the field, including 35 percent (7-20) from downtown, and 80 percent (8-10) from the line. The Blazers finished shooting 46.4 percent (32-69), while shooting 39.3 percent (11-28) from three, and 75 percent (9-12) from the free throw line.
  • The Blazers barely out rebounded the Bucs 38-35, including an edge in offensive (14-12) and defensive (24-23) rebounds.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Bucs continue their road play as they take on Lane Wednesday, December 5th at 6PM. The Bucs return back to Canale Arena Saturday, December 15th at 3PM as they are up against Auburn-Montgomery.
