Lady Bucs Edge Out Auburn-Montgomery 55-43

MEMPHIS- The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs relied on a couple of scoring runs against conference foe Auburn-Montgomery as they went on to defeat the Lady Warhawks 55-43 Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lady Warhawks (0-10, 0-4 GSC) led for most of the first quarter, but the Lady Bucs (4-4, 1-2) closed out the quarter with a 9-1 run which gave the momentum to the Lady Bucs for the rest of the game.
  • The Bucs carried their momentum into the second quarter as they began the quarter with a 13-4 run. This run lasted for most of the quarter and ended with 2:15 remaining in the half. The Lady Bucs went into halftime leading the Lady Warhawks 29-25.
  • A Makayla Enochs (Finley, Tenn./Dyer County HS) three with 1:17 remaining in the third quarter was the last time the Lady Bucs had to hunt for the lead as they held the lead the rest of the game.
  • The Lady Bucs outscored the Lady Warhawks in the fourth quarter 14-7 as they ran away with the 55-43 victory.

KEY STATS:  
  • Enochs led the scoring for the Lady Bucs with 18 points, which came along with five rebounds and two assists.
  • Sara Owen (Dyersburg, Tenn./Dyer County HS) was the next highest scorer as she finished the game with eight points.
  • Taylor Lauren and Brynne Lytle (Jackson, Tenn./Trinity Christian Academy) had a wonderful defensive game as they both finished the game with three steals.
  • Kelsey Adkins (Lawrenceburg, Tenn./Lawrence County HS) led the Lady Bucs with seven rebounds.
  • The Lady Bucs shot 33.3 percent (19-57) from the field, including 32.1 percent (9-28) from downtown, and 66.7 percent (8-12) from the line. The Lady Warhawks finished shooting 39.1 percent (18-46), while shooting 7.1 percent (1-14) from three, and 60.0 percent (6-10) from the free throw line.
  • Auburn-Montgomery out rebounded the Bucs 37-35. The Lady Bucs held an edge in offensive (10-5) rebounds, but the Lady Warhawks led in defensive (32-25) rebounds.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs are on the road Monday, December 17th as they take on Mississippi College. The Lady Bucs return back to Canale Arena Saturday, January 5th at 1PM as they are up against conference foe Lee University.
