ST. LOUIS, Missouri- Host Missouri-St. Louis sunk 51.8 percent of their shots from the field as they defeated the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 75-57 Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- It was a back-and-forth game throughout the first quarter, with the Lady Bucs (3-3) leading as many as 4 points, but the Tritons (5-4) took the lead with a 12-3 run to close out the quarter and never looked back.
- The Tritons opened the second quarter with a 12-3 run and continued to lead by at least 10 points until late in the quarter when Lauren Taylor (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) made a layup coming from a pass from Kenzie Jones (Park Hills, Mo./Central HS), which narrowed the score to 42-33. This was the closest, to the lead, the Lady Bucs got for the rest of the game.
- Halfway through the third quarter, the Tritons led by 18 points. They never held a lead less than that for the rest of the game.
KEY STATS:
- Brynne Lytle (Jackson, Tenn./Trinity Christian Academy) led the scoring for the Lady Bucs with 17 points, which also came with five assists, while shooting 6-8 from the field.
- Jones finished the game with 16 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
- The Lady Bucs shot 39.2 percent (20-51) from the field, including 36.4 percent (8-22) from downtown, and 56.3 percent (9-16) from the line. The Tritons finished shooting 51.8 percent (29-56), while shooting 33.3 percent (7-21) from three, and 62.5 percent (10-16) from the free throw line.
- The Tritons out rebounded the Bucs 38-25, including an edge in offensive (10-6) and defensive (28-19) rebounds.
