Men's Hoops Falter Against Bellarmine

LOUISVILLE – The Christian Brothers University men's basketball team fell short in their road game against the No. 1 NABC ranked Bellarmine University Knights, 87-52 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Things seemed to work against the Bucs from the jump, as they struggled to get going on the offensive or defensive side. Going into half, the Bucs trailed Bellarmine 46-28.
  • CBU tried to chip away at the Bellarmine lead; but any momentum was quickly thwarted, as the Knights outscored the Bucs by 17 in the second half, pushing the margin of defeat to 25.
KEY STATS:
  • Freshman wing Nick Deifel (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills HS) lead all Buccaneers in points and minutes on Saturday. The Ohio native logged 13 points and four rebounds in 30 minutes. Deifel was the only CBU player in double-figure scoring.
  • In the loss against Lane, CBU shot 6-for-32 from behind the three-point line. The Bucs clip improved against Bellarmine, but not substantially, as CBU shot 9-for-30 against the Knights.
UP NEXT:
  • Today's game wraps up a four-game road trip for Christian Brothers University. The Bucs return to Canale arena next weekend, as the play the home-conference opener against Auburn-Montgomery on Saturday, December 15th. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
