CLEVELAND, Tennessee-Host Lee went on a 33-0 run spanning more than 14 minutes of the second half as they rallied for a 60-47 win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The teams traded leads early before Lee (19-6, 12-5 GSC) used a 7-0 burst to take a 13-7 lead on an Abby Bertram jumper with 3:21 remaining in the first quarter.
• CBU (9-14, 8-9) answered with a 26-6 run sparked by a
Kenzie Jones (Park Hills, Mo./Central HS) triple with 1:13 remaining in the first quarter and capped by a
Mikaela Blissett (Oran, Mo./Scott County Central HS) layup that gave them a 33-19 lead with 8:57 remaining in the third quarter.
• Lee started the decisive run on a Lindsey Roddy triple with 8:41 remaining in the third quarter. By the time it ended on a Maddie Long triple with 4:35 remaining in the fourth, the Lady Flames led 52-33. During the spell, the Lady Bucs were 0-for-20 from the field, including 10 three-pointers, they missed two free throws and they committed seven turnovers. Meanwhile, Lee shot 7-of-11 from three-point range in the stretch.
• The Lady Bucs closed the game on a 9-0 run, with an
Emily Reeves (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) triple setting the final margin with seven seconds remaining.
KEY STATS:
• Jones scored a game-high 17 for the Lady Bucs, shooting 5-of-10 including 2-of-4 from three-point range, and she made 5-of-6 free throws.
•
Rafaella Angelidou (Thessaloniki, Greece/Aristoteleio Kollegeio) added seven points.
•
Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists while scoring five points.
•
Brynne Lytle (Jackson, Tenn./Trinity Christian Academy) snared a game-high eight rebounds with two blocks.
• CBU shot 27.6 percent (16-of-58) from the field, including 24.0 percent (6-of-25) from three-point range. Lee finished 37.5 percent (21-of-56) overall, including 38.5 percent (10-of-26) from beyond the arc.
• The Lady Flames out-rebounded CBU 42-33, including a 7-6 edge in offensive boards. The Lady Bucs committed 14 turnovers while forcing 13 from Lee.
THE GSC STANDINGS:
With three games remaining, Union remains in first place at 16-1, followed by North Alabama at 15-2. Lee and Valdosta State remain tied for third at 12-5, followed by West Florida, West Georgia and West Alabama, who are in a three-way tie for fifth at 10-7. CBU and Delta State are tied for the eighth seed at 8-9.

The Lady Bucs play two of their last three games at home, beginning Wednesday night at 5 p.m. as they host Delta State. They visit Auburn-Montgomery next Saturday before wrapping up the regular season at home against Union Thursday, Feb. 22.
