Lady Hawks Drop Lady Bucs 80-62

ROME, Georgia-Host Shorter converted 27 Christian Brothers University turnovers into 35 points as they claimed an 80-62 win over the Lady Bucs Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Hawks (6-16, 4-12 GSC) struck first with the game's first five points on a layup and a triple.
• CBU (9-13, 8-8) scored the next five to tie the game at 5-5 on a Brynne Lytle (Jackson, Tenn./Trinity Christian Academy) layup and then at 7-7 on a Courtney Banks (Memphis, Tenn./White Station HS) layup with 3:06 remaining in the first quarter.
• Shorter used a 12-3 run spanning much of the second quarter to open a 26-14 lead they would never relinquish on a Bianca Thornton jumper with 4:15 remaining in the half.
• The Lady Bucs scored seven straight points late in the quarter to come within 28-22 on a Banks triple with 26 seconds remaining in the half.
• The Lady Hawks out-scored CBU 26-17 in the third quarter, and they led by as many as 28 points in the game.

KEY STATS:
Kenzie Jones (Park Hills, Mo./Central HS) scored 15 points with four rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes. She shot 6-of-7 from the field, including 2-of-3 from three-point range.
• Banks added 14 with three steals, three assists and three rebounds in 38 minutes. She shot 5-of-10, including 3-of-6 from three-point range.
Kelsey Adkins (Lawrenceburg, Tenn./Lawrence County HS) scored nine points with three rebounds and two assists.
Rafaella Angelidou (Thessaloniki, Greece/Aristoteleio Kollegeio) added eight with three rebounds.
• The Lady Bucs shot 53.5 percent (23-of-43) from the field, including 40 percent (6-of-15) from three-point range. Shorter finished 47.5 percent (29-of-61) overall, including 44.8 percent (13-of-29) from beyond the arc.
• The Lady Hawks out-rebounded CBU 31-25, including a 10-2 edge in offensive boards. Shorter forced 27 Lady Bucs turnovers while committing 16.

WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs visit Lee Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. Their next home game is set for Wednesday night at 5 p.m. as they host Delta State.
