MEMPHIS-No. 24 West Florida swept a doubleheader from the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Monday afternoon, winning the opener 8-0 and claiming a 10-3 win in the nightcap.
GAME 1:
WHAT HAPPENED:
UWF (16-8, 7-4 GSC) scored in four of the game's five innings as they claimed an 8-0 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Argos opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second on a leadoff walk and a two-out RBI double.
• UWF extended its lead to 4-0 in the third on two walks and a two-out three-run homer by Tiona Hill.
• The Argos plated three in the third on two singles, an error and two doubles.
• UWF added another run in the fifth on a leadoff triple and a one-out single.
KEY STATS:

Sierra Anderson (Olive Branch, Miss./Lewisburg HS) went 1-for-2 with a walk.

Marquisha Sanders (Millington, Tenn./Millington Central HS) was 1-for-1.

GAME 2:
WHAT HAPPENED:
The Argos scored six runs in the top of the first and never trailed in a 10-3 win to complete the sweep.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• UWF scored six in the first inning on three singles, three walks, a double and a sacrifice fly.
• The Lady Bucs (5-17, 1-11) scored in the bottom of the first.
Holly Oyhenart (Menifee, Calif./Paloma Valley HS) reached on an error to start the inning, and she moved to third on a Welch double, scoring on an
Olivia Parsels (Germantown, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) groundout.
• CBU scored twice in the second. Anderson led off with a single and moved to second on an
Ashlyn Hinton (Anniston, Ala./White Plains HS) walk. A
Savannah Rosevear-Goetsch (Arrington, Tenn./Fred J. Page HS) groundout moved them to second and third, and Oyhenart's two-run single to left cut the deficit to 6-3.
• UWF plated two runs in the fifth on a hit batter, two singles and a sacrifice fly.
• The Argos set the final margin with two runs in the sixth on a double and a two-run Rhiannon Sassman homer.
