MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs scored four runs in each game, but they dropped non-conference games to Maryville (Mo.) and Trevecca Nazarene Wednesday afternoon at Bland Field.
GAME 1: Maryville 10, CBU 4
WHAT HAPPENED:
Visiting Maryville (13-6) scored nine consecutive runs to regain the lead in a 10-4 win after CBU (5-19) had taken an early 3-1 edge.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Saints scored a run in the top of the first on two singles and a stolen base.
• CBU took the lead in the bottom of the inning with three runs. Back-to-back walks to
Holly Oyhenart (Menifee, Calif./Paloma Valley HS) and
Amber Johnson (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) started the inning. With two away,
Abby Ferreira (Santa Clarita, Calif./Saugus HS) singled down the right field line to score Oyhenart, moving Johnson to third, and Ferreira advanced to second on the throw home.
Sierra Anderson (Olive Branch, Miss./Lewisburg HS) followed with a two-run single through the left side, and two more singles loaded the bases again before the inning ended on a groundout.
• Maryville tied it in the second on a one-out double and a two-run Bri Livingston homer.
• The Saints regained the lead an inning later with three runs on a single, an error and a three-run homer by Emily Frankenreiter.
• Maryville pulled away with four in the sixth on two doubles, a single and a two-run homer from Frankenreiter.
• The Lady Bucs scored one in the seventh.
Savannah Rosevear-Goetsch (Arrington, Tenn./Fred J. Page HS) worked a leadoff walk. Pinch-runner
Katelyn Cherry (Atwood, Tenn./West Carroll HS) moved around to third on a pair of groundouts and scored on an infield single by Johnson.

• Anderson went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
• Johnson was 2-for-4 with a walk, a run and one RBI.
• Oyhenart went 0-for-3 but drew two walks and scored a run.

GAME 2: Trevecca Nazarene 8, CBU 4
WHAT HAPPENED:
Junior second baseman
Maddi Welch (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) tied for the second-most total bases in a game in school history as she hit a homer and two triples, but Trevecca Nazarene (13-5) claimed an 8-4 win over the Lady Bucs.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Trojans started the scoring quickly, with two in the first on a one-out single and a two-run Bailey Alexander homer.
• CBU cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the inning.
Maddi Welch (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) tripled down the right field line, scoring on an
Olivia Parsels (Germantown, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) single.
• Trevecca used the long ball again in the third as they scored three on an error, a single and a three-run homer by Alexander.
• The Lady Bucs scored again in the bottom of the third as Welch launched a homer to left on an 0-1 pitch.
• CBU cut another run off the deficit in the fourth. Ferreira started the inning with a single, and they loaded the bases with one out when
Shelby Crocker (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) drew a walk and
Ashlyn Hinton (Anniston, Ala./White Plains HS) reached on an error. After Ferreira was forced out at home, Johnson scored Cherry, pinch-running for Crocker, with a single up the middle.
• Trevecca scored two more in the fifth on a walk and a two-run Mary Collins homer.
• The Trojans added one in the sixth on an error, a single and a groundout.
• The Lady Bucs set the final margin with a run in the seventh as Johnson singled with one out and scored on another Welch triple.
KEY STATS:
• Welch went 3-for-4 with two triples, a homer, two runs and two RBI.
• Johnson was 2-for-4 with a run and one RBI.

Jenna Cotter (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) threw two and two-thirds innings of relief, allowing one unearned run on three hits with one strikeout.
NOTABLE:
• Welch's 10 total bases are second-most in a game in school history, two behind assistant coach Jennifer Gonzalez, who had 12 total bases against LeMoyne-Owen March 31, 2015. Gonzalez had two homers, a double and two singles in the game.
• Welch is the fourth player in school history to hit two triples in a game. Victoria Mathews holds the school single-game record with three against Williams Baptist Feb. 24, 2009. Casey King had two at Crichton March 11, 2008, and Stephanie Keaton had two at Lambuth Feb. 25, 2007.
