CLINTON, Mississippi-The Christian Brothers University women's tennis team was defeated by GSC opponent #23 Mississippi College Alabama 8-1 on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After dropping matches at the No.2 and No.3 slots, the Lady Bucs sought to avoid the sweep by winning their final doubles matchup. At No.1,
Tara McElroy (Dunboyne, Ireland/) and
Lauren Woog (Memphis, Tenn./Homeschooled) tried to hand MC's Keller/Kimball duo their first loss of the season, but came up just short by a final score of 8-6. Looking to bounce back in singles, McElroy and Woog both took their matches to decisive third sets. After losing the first set, Woog fought back at No.2 singles but fell 10-6 in her third set tiebreaker. Meanwhile, McElroy was able to get the Lady Bucs on the scoreboard by holding off her opponent 10-2 in the day's second third set tiebreaker. The Choctaws would go on to win the remainder of singles play.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The Lady Bucs return home and will play Blue Mountain on Monday, April 2. This match will take place in Southaven, MS at 2:00 PM.
