CLEVELAND, Mississippi-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs jumped to a quick 3-0 lead Saturday, but host Delta State pulled away for a 13-5 win in the series finale.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Lady Bucs (7-28, 1-20 GSC) struck for three in the top of the first.
Holly Oyhenart (Menifee, Calif./Paloma Valley HS) and
Maddi Welch (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) opened the game with back-to-back singles, and both scored when
Olivia Parsels (Germantown, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) reached on a three-base error on her sacrifice bunt. Parsels would score on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 3-0.
• Delta State (21-16, 12-9) scored four in the bottom of the inning on a walk, a hit batter, a double and two singles.
• CBU tied it with a run in the top of the second.
Jenna Cotter (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) singled and moved to second on a
Jacqueline Conlan (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) sacrifice bunt, scoring on an
Ashlyn Hinton (Anniston, Ala./White Plains HS) single to left-center.
• The Lady Statesmen regained the lead for good in the bottom of the second with two runs on a walk, a double, a hit batter and a single.
• The Lady Bucs cut the deficit in half in the top of the fourth when Cotter launched her team-high third homer of the season to center with one out.
• DSU picked up a run in the bottom of the fourth on two singles and two wild pitches.
• The Lady Statesmen added five more in the fifth on three singles, a walk and two doubles.
• DSU ended the game with a run in the sixth on a leadoff homer by Abi Gibson.

• Cotter went 2-for-3 with a homer, two runs and one RBI.
• Oyhenart was 1-for-3 with a run.
• Welch went 1-for-3 with a run.
• Hinton was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
