MEMPHIS-The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs swept their final home non-conference games of the season Wednesday afternoon, defeating Lane 4-3 in the first game of a doubleheader before winning the second game 6-5.
GAME 1:
WHAT HAPPENED:
The Lady Bucs (9-31) broke a 3-all tie with a run in the bottom of the seventh to win 4-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• CBU opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first.
Holly Oyhenart (Menifee, Calif./Paloma Valley HS) led off with an infield single. After stealing second, she took third on an
Amber Johnson (Somerville, Tenn./Fayette Academy) flyout. A two-out
Olivia Parsels (Germantown, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) single brought her homeÂ
• The Lady Dragons (5-18) took the lead in the top of the third with a pair of homers, a leadoff shot to left by Teyonna Clady and a two-out homer to center by Ericka Webster.
• The Lady Bucs regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Parsels led off with an infield single, scoring when
Sierra Anderson (Olive Branch, Miss./Lewisburg HS) launched a two-run homer to center.Â
• Lane tied the game with a run in the top of the sixth on two singles, a one-out walk and a sacrifice fly.
• CBU scored the winning run with no out in the bottom of the seventh.
Ashlyn Hinton (Anniston, Ala./White Plains HS) led off with a double to the gap in left-center. Oyhenart laid down a bunt single, and a wild throw to first brought Hinton home for the winning run.
KEY STATS:
• Anderson went 2-for-2 with a walk, a homer, a run and two RBI. She was also the winning pitcher, throwing two scoreless innings of relief as she allowed one walk and no hits against two strikeouts.
• Parsels was 2-for-3 with a stolen base, a run and one RBI.
• Oyhenart went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run.
• Hinton was 1-for-2 with a walk, a double and a run.
GAME 2:Â
WHAT HAPPENED:
CBU used a four-run fourth inning to take a lead it would not surrender in a 6-5 win to complete the sweep.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Lane opened the scoring with two runs in the second inning on a leadoff double to left-center and a two-run homer to center by Nautica Huddleston.
• The Lady Bucs cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the inning. Parsels led off with a single. After stealing second, she moved to third on an Anderson groundout and scored when
Jenna Cotter (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) reached on an error on a sacrifice fly.
• CBU took its first lead of the game in the fourth.
Maddi Welch (Munford, Tenn./Munford HS) and Parsels led off with back-to-back singles. After a wild pitch moved them to second and third, Anderson smoked a double over the bag at third to score both and give CBU a 3-2 edge. After an infield single by Cotter,
Savannah Rosevear-Goetsch (Arrington, Tenn./Fred J. Page HS) reached on an error that allowed pinch-runner
Katelyn Cherry (Atwood, Tenn./West Carroll HS) to score. An
Abby Ferreira (Santa Clarita, Calif./Saugus HS) sacrifice moved runners to second and third, and an infield single by Oyhenart scored Cotter.
• A leadoff homer by Clady in the top of the fifth drew the Lady Dragons within 5-3.
• Lane added another tally in the sixth, coming within 5-4 as they scored on a walk, a single and a throwing error.
• The Lady Bucs added what proved to be a vital insurance run in the bottom of the sixth. Hinton led off with a single but was out when Oyhenart grounded into a force play. After stealing second, Oyhenart scored on a Welch single to center, giving CBU a 6-4 edge.
• The Lady Dragons set the final margin in the top of the seventh with a run on two singles and a sacrifice fly.

• Parsels went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs.
• Oyhenart was 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, a run and one RBI.
• Cotter went 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly, a run and one RBI. She was the winning pitcher, allowing two earned runs over five and a third innings of relief, scattering six hits and one walk against four strikeouts.
• Anderson was 1-for-2 with a hit by pitch, a double and two RBI.
