Lady Bucs Dominant in GSC Opener

MOBILE – The Christian Brothers University women's soccer team opened up conference play with a dominant 5-0 win over Spring Hill (Ala.) at Library Field on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lady Bucs struck first and often in the opening half. Bailey Tadlock (Mandeville, La./Fontainebleau HS) sent in a 13th minute corner kick into the box and Sinead Tierney (Winsford, England/St. Nicholas Catholic HS) headed it in for a 1-0 lead.
  • In the 25th minute the Lady Bucs drew a foul in the box. Caitlin Barnes (Olive Branch, Miss./Center Hill HS) buried the penalty kick, and CBU's lead stretched to two.
  • CBU again converted just before halftime as Melissa Tammi (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) fed a ball to the top of the box for a Meg Sander (Little Rock, Ark./Central HS) goal (44th minute).
  • CBU picked up right where they left off in the second-half. Caitlin Barnes (Olive Branch, Miss./Center Hill HS) got yet another penalty kick opportunity and scored in the 57th minute.
  • The Lady Bucs got their fifth goal in the 78th minute when Shelby Goodrich (Eads, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) assisted Ashton White (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) in the penalty area.
