Lady Bucs blank Missouri S&T 1-0

ROLLA, Missouri – The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs capped off their season-opening road trip with a 1-0 win against Missouri S&T in S&T Soccer Field on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Midfielder #Sinead Tierney# blasted the game's first and only goal past the S&T keeper in the 17th minute. Tierney has scored three goals in the first two games of the season for the Lady Bucs (1-0-1).
  • Although the Miners outshot the Lady Bucs (17-10), the Lady Bucs were much more efficient in placing their shots on goal (10-7 in favor of the Miners).
  • Both the Lady Bucs and the Miners were both aggressive on offense, each recording five corner kicks. The Lady Bucs were also called for three offsides over the course of the game.
  • Both teams played a fairly physical game, amassing 23 total fouls (CBU 12, Missouri S&T 11).

KEY STATS:
  • Sophomore goalkeeper #Riley Chafin# posted her first clean sheet of the season, after having only two all of last year. Chafin made a career high 10 saves against all 10 shots faced from the Miners.
  • Today's win caps off an undefeated road trip to start the season. The Lady Bucs also ended things in a tie against Drury on Friday, 2-2.

  • The Lady Bucs return to Memphis for their first actions of the season at home to face off fellow Buccaneers from Barry (Fla.). First kick is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Signaigo Field.
