Women's Soccer falls in Battle of Bucs

MEMPHIS – The Christian Brothers University Lady Buccaneers suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of No. 9 Barry 1-0 in Signaigo Field on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Things remained fairly even through the first 15 minutes, with CBU (1-1-1) applying significant pressure on the offensive end, even recording the game's first corner kick.
  • However, Barry (4-0-0) responded and even applied some pressure of their own, scoring the game's first goal in the 25th minute, a goal by freshman midfielder Ari Cerezuela.
  • CBU was unable to regain momentum in the second half, despite a flurry of attempts in the final minutes.
  • The Lady Bucs of CBU had three shots in the final 10 minutes, two on goal.
KEY STATS:
  • Barry outshot CBU 18-3 throughout the game, although many of Barry's shots came from outside the box and missed goal altogether..
  • CBU goalkeeper, Riley Chafin (Little Rock, Ark./Central HS), made a game-high three saves against four shots on goal.
