LIVINGSTON, Alabama-Host West Alabama swept a Gulf South Conference match from the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Thursday night.
West Alabama 3, CBU 0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-20)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Tigers (9-4, 3-1 GSC) seized control of the first set with a five-point run, taking an 18-15 edge. CBU (6-9, 1-3) rallied to tie it at 20 with a three-point run, but the Tigers scored five of the last seven to win 25-22.
• West Alabama hit .471 in the second set, scoring the first seven points of the set. The Lady Bucs used an 8-3 burst to draw within 13-12 on a
Mollie Wadsworth (Hernando, Miss./Northpoint Christian HS) kill, but UWA scored the next four to rebuild a 17-12 lead as they pulled away to win 25-17.
• The Tigers took leads of 12-0 and 15-1 in the third set before CBU mounted a comeback. First, CBU scored three straight to come within 16-5, then four straight to come within 20-12 on a
Miaya Smith (Memphis, Tenn./St. George's Independent School) kill. Another four-point run capped by a
Blythe Clausen (Hendersonville, Tenn./Pope John Paul II HS) ace cut the deficit to 21-17, but the teams traded sideouts the rest of the way as the Tigers won 25-20 to clinch the sweep.

• Smith led the Lady Bucs with eight kills and five blocks.
• Wadsworth had six kills, three digs and two blocks.

Emma Lenoir (Chattanooga, Tenn./East Hamilton HS) had nine digs with five kills and two blocks.

Joze Smith (Atoka, Tenn./Tipton-Rosemark Academy) notched nine digs with four assists.

Alexa Henderson (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie HS) dished out 14 assists with eight digs and three kills.
• Clausen added eight digs.
