Lady Bucs Roll Past Union 5-0 in GSC fixture

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Christian Brothers University women's soccer team rolled past the Union University Bulldogs 5-0 in the Smith Memorial Soccer Complex to improve to 5-2-1 and 4-1-0 in Gulf South Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lady Buccaneers got off to a hot start, pouring on five shots in the first 20 minutes, compared to one from Union. Bucs midfielder Amanda Dutra (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/American School) received a pass in the 22nd minute from Anna Della Rosa (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) and buried it past the goalkeeper to put CBU up 1-0.
  • Dutra was not finished there, 15 minutes later the Lady Bucs freshman scored again, receiving a pass in the box by Melissa Tammi (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) and stroking her shot past the keeper.
  • The Lady Buccaneers picked up right where they left off in the 58th minute when Anna Della Rosa (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) took matters in her own hands and powered it in the goal, giving the Lady Bucs a decisive 3-0 lead.
  • The Bucs put the game away in the 86th minute, scoring two goals in just 18 seconds. Bailey Tadlock (Mandeville, La./Fontainebleau HS) sank a penalty kick followed by Bobbie Willis (Bartlett, Tenn./Arlington HS) scoring on a fast break attempt and sealing the game.
KEY STATS:
  • Freshman Amanda Dutra (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/American School) earned just the second collegiate start of her young career against the Bulldogs. The Brazilian native made the most of her time, scoring her first two goals as a Lady Buccaneer on an efficient two shots.
  • Midfielder Anna Della Rosa (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) has continued her remarkable play, scoring her fifth goal (2nd on the team) and tallying her second assist (T-2nd on the team) of the season for the Lady Bucs. The reigning GSC Player of the Week scored four goals in two games last weekend.
  • Buccaneers goalkeeper Riley Chafin (Little Rock, Ark./Central HS) posted her third clean sheet of the season, allowing zero goals and saving all six shots on goal from the Bulldogs.
  • The Lady Bucs poured on a season high 28 shots against the Bulldogs, including 14 on goal, and an additional five corner kicks.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
  • CBU returns to Signiago Field next weekend for two crucial conference games against Mississippi College (Fri. October 5 @ 5:00 p.m.) and Delta State (Sun. October 7 @ 1:00 p.m.).
