Lady Bucs Fall at West Georgia, Split Road Trip

CARROLLTON, Ga. - West Georgia held the Christian Brothers University women's basketball team to just three points in the final 4:40 and held on for a 55-50, on Saturday at The Coliseum. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • The Lady Bucs (7-10, 4-8 GSC) started the game on a 9-2 run, all coming from three pointers. CBU shot well in the opening frame, as four-out-of-five starters got on the board, and ended the quarter with the 18-10 lead.
  • West Georgia (11-6, 6-5) responded, opening the second quarter on an 11-3 run. The second quarter belonged to the Wolves (16-11), but the Lady Bucs went to break with a 29-26 lead.
  • The third quarter was back-and-forth, but the Wolves outscored CBU 11-5 over the last 5:19 to take a 41-39 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • After trailing by as many as four points in the final period, CBU got to within 51-50 on a three pointer by Kenzie Jones with 1:35 left. A pair of turnovers in the final minute helped the hosts seal the victory. 

KEY STATS:
  • Two Lady Bucs finished the game with double-digit points. Brynne Lytle led the way, scoring 18 points, with four rebounds. Jones tallied 14 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Both Lytle and Jones have scored double-digit points in seven consecutive games.
  • Rachel Lee tacked on another three pointer to add to her career total. She has knocked down 35 this season, which brings her career total to 173. Lee is currently second in school history, passing Courtney Banks.

WHAT'S NEXT:
 The Lady Bucs return to Canale Arena on Thursday, Jan, 31 as they take on Shorter at 5:00 p.m. CBU earned a 74-64 win over the Lady Hawks on Thursday, Jan. 24.
