Dieball Records Triple Double in Win Over Shorter

MEMPHIS –  Adam Dieball posted his third triple double of the season to help the Christian Brothers University men's basketball team defeat Shorter 84-72, on Thursday at Canale Arena. The victory over Shorter was the second over the Hawks in seven days, and completed a season sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • CBU (14-7, 9-4 GSC) jumped out to a 12-0 lead over the first 4:15 of the contest. Brad Miller got the Bucs going, scoring two of the first three first buckets to score a quick five points.
  • The Hawks (2-18, 0-12) battled back, tying the game at 34 with 5:53 remaining in the first half, but the Bucs were able to take a 48-44 into halftime. The Bucs shot 67 percent in the first half, including 18-of-23 from inside the three point line.
  • CBU started the half with a 7-0, capped off by an Adam Dieball layup to take a 55-44 lead with 16:29 left.
  • The Hawks got to within 74-71 with 5:04 left, but Dieball scored five straight points to help extend the lead.
  • CBU scored seven of the final eight points, over the last 4:50 to help seal the victory.
KEY STATS:
  • Dieball finished with 23 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds in 37 minutes. Two of his three triple doubles have come in GSC contests.
  • In his first start of the season, Mitchell Mays scored 13 points, on 5-of-7 shooting in 24 minutes. Along with Joe Laravie, Mays was a game-high +15. Brad Miller also had 13 points, to go along with six rebounds and four assists.
  • Laravie had 16 points shooting, 7-of-13 from the field, and 2-of-4 from behind the arc.
  • Luke Rudy was a spark off the bench for the Bucs, scoring 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Rudy also had three rebounds in 16 minutes.
UP NEXT:
  • After falling to UWG 82-79 on Jan. 26, the Bucs will get a quick rematch, as they host the Wolves on Saturday, Feb. 2. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
