Lady Bucs Rally to Defeat Rollins at GSC/SSC Crossover

BIRMINGHAM - The Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs started off their play in the GSC/SSC Crossover Tournament as they took on Rollins College Friday afternoon. The Lady Bucs started off a little slow as they dropped the first two sets, but caught fire and rallied back to force a match deciding fifth set. The Lady Bucs took the final set 15-10 to defeat the Tars 3-2.

WHAT HAPPENED: For the second straight game, the Lady Bucs have went to a thrilling five set match. The game was controlled by Rollins College up until the third set. The Lady Bucs turned the tables with a .474 hitting percentage, in the third set, and continued with their hot play to rally back and down the Tars 3-2.

KEY STATS:
  • This is the second time this season the Lady Bucs have come back from a 0-2 deficit and pull away with a 3-2 victory.
  • Emma Lenoir led CBU's offensive attack as she finished the match with 17 kills. This is the fourth consecutive game she has tallied double-digit kills.
  • The Lady Bucs finished the third set with a .474 hitting percentage. They converted on 11-of-19 of their attacks.
  • CBU recorded 17 service aces in the match. Maddie Flickinger, Brooke Hall, and Lenoir tallied three aces each.
  • Miaya Smith assisted on six blocks in the match, while also recording a solo block.

The Lady Bucs continue their play in the GSC/SSC Crossover Tournament as they take on Florida Southern College tomorrow at 9:00 AM and Florida Tech at 4:45 PM.
